Time to pardon Jim Morrison for showing the world his willy

The long-haired, long dead, rock icon probably wouldn’t give a monkeys, but authorities in Florida are on the verge of posthumously pardoning the Doors legend Jim Morrison for an act of indecent exposure that happened over 40 years ago.

He was found guilty of the offence after getting his kit off on stage at the Dinner Key Auditorium in Miami in 1969. The singer was appealing against the conviction when he was found dead in a Paris bathtub two years later.

Florida Governor, Charlie Crist, is keen on pardoning the flamboyant star. ‘He died when he was 27. That’s really a kid, when you think about it, and obviously he was having some challenges,’ he said.

Ray Manzarek, keyboardist with the Doors, also thinks it’s a good idea, saying: ‘You know what would really be nice? Florida is Jim's home state. He's a Florida boy. Wouldn't it great if Florida could finally say, ‘Hey, native son, your name is cleared. We recognise you as a young American poet’.'

He added that the photographic evidence against Morrison was pretty flimsy at best.
