Swiss canton bans naked hiking

A Swiss canton has voted to ban naked hiking in the Alps after the area became a favourite destination for German nudists.

Citizens of the district of Appenzell Inner Rhodes have ruled to hit any naked hill walkers with a £120 fine. An anti-nude movement in Switzerland was started last year following the arrival of thousands of German tourists wearing nothing more than their hiking boots.

The news will come as a blow for lederhosen less German naturalists who have described naked mountain walking as "a special experience of nature, free and healthy."
