Teen pregnancy dream

It ranks highly amongst the stunts US high school students can pull in attempts to increase their credit during their last year at school, coming above over-dosing on caffeine for those end-of-year exams and breaking into the principal's office to steal the answers to said tests. However, Gaby Rodriguez's sociology experiment could have landed her boyfriend in some particularly hot water.

At the Toppenish High School, Washington, Gaby recently revealed that the baby that had been growing inside her since her indiscretion at homecoming was, in fact, a wad of padding she used to conduct a social experiment, Yakima Herald tells us. The reason? To understand how people's attitudes and comments towards her changed as her pregnancy progressed.

'Before taking off her fake baby belly in front of the entire student body, Gaby told her audience, 'Many things were said about me. Many things traveled all the way back to me.''

'Then, she asked several students and teachers to read statements from 3x5 cards, quotes people actually said about her during the course of her experiment.'

'Her best friend, Saida Cortes, a 17-year-old senior who was sitting in the front row, read card No. 3: 'Her attitude is changing, and it might be because of the baby or she was always this annoying and I never realized it.''

The revelation may have shocked the school and local community quite profoundly but the bravery of this high school student, in giving up her year to provoke and withstand differing levels of social 'treatment' is really quite remarkable.
