Scientists find length of perfect quickie

It's news that no-one really wants or expects to hear: the ideal length of time for hopping on the good foot and doing the bad thing is a lot shorter than you'd like it to be. Like other adolescent to adult preconceptions about sex - such as penis size and performance - the reality is usually unwelcome. But as the scientists who interviewed 50 members of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research believe, the real truth behind what happens in the sack could help prevent pointless concern over physical problems and lack of sexual prowess.

So what is the magic number of minutes for enjoying the horizontal mambo? Apparently just seven to thirteen minutes, the Daily Mail reports, which may actually make for happy reading for busy commuters, house-wives and fans of 'the quickie' everywhere. Although this finding and other recently published research in this area may lead to couples asking each other: 'Did you blink and miss it?', Eric Corty and Jenay Guardiani of Penn State University, who conducted the findings, are hoping these findings will start to peel away sexual stereotypes that may inhibit best performance: 'Many men and women seem to believe the fantasy model of large penises and all-night-long intercourse.' Time to put the tape-measure away guys, it's what you do with it (in the time it takes to make a cup of tea) that counts.
