Protecting the crown jewels

A firm selling Royal Wedding ‘souvenir sheath’ condoms has been accused of trying to take advantage of the couple’s trip down the aisle.

Royally upset commentators last night branded Crown Jewels Condoms of Distinction ‘tasteless’, according to reports in The Sun.

The heritage johnnies come in packs of three complete with a picture of Wills and Kate on the front. Instructions on the box urge lovers to ‘lie back and think of England,’ and promise ‘a better class of lovemaking.’ It adds: ‘Like a Royal Wedding, intercourse with a loved one is an unforgettable occasion.’

Company spokesperson Hugh Pomfret claimed the souvenir sheaths are the ideal souvenir for the big day.

He said: ‘We set our craftsmen to create these heirloom quality love sheaths. In years to come they'll be a memento of a magical day.’

But Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward was not amused. She said: ‘This is completely tasteless and really rather hurtful.

‘Prince William has a great sense of humour but this is a step too far. This is a cheap swipe to make money.’
