Log on, get off vs. get it on, get off

It might be considered to be a modern day blight on our society, a deadly combination of lazy interactions, modern fetishes and an inability to form lasting social interactions, but porn has done one thing for the world: erm... created more jobs at the time of a global recession...?

One writer, Davy Rothbart, has gone further to claim that the more time men spend getting off to porn, the less able they are to function within sexual relationships in the real world, preferring unreal fantasy situations. This is apparently all due to a process of neurological and chemical bonding that takes place during the act thanks to a chemical called 'oxytocin', TIME Healthland tells us.

Others have questioned this theory:'that's not how oxytocin — which is involved in feelings of love and lifelong bonding — actually works. If it was, men wouldn't seek a variety of porn; rather, they'd be 'monogamous' with whatever material they first found enjoyable. (And women would fall in love with their vibrators.)

'While it's quite clear that human beings have an ongoing desire for sexual variety, that's the opposite of the attachment that is triggered by oxytocin. You can't get 'attached' to novelty, and novelty is what guys like about porn.'

We'd love to see men going on dates with DVDs and women sharing dinner with their vibrators!
