Old news is good news

If you thought the paparazzi were the only people charting the scandalous lives of celebrities, you’d be wrong. It seems the FBI has quite a lot of dirt on them too. Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act, the FBI has released thousands of pages of previously secret documents revealing the bad behaviour of the stars from the 1940s to the 1970s. So what exactly is on file?

How about icon Marilyn Monroe living up to her provocative image with what was perhaps the first celebrity sex tape… Apparently, in February 1965 her former husband, baseball star Joe Dimaggio, offered someone $25,000 for the copy of the tape of Marilyn performing a lewd act on an unknown male.

Then there’s the story of Elvis and a homosexual South African dermatologist. The King’s skincare specialist, while he was in the military, threatened to release photographs of the star in what is described in files as “compromising situations”. The exact details of these situations, however, are known only to the FBI.

But perhaps the funniest sex story comes from Ol’ Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra. In 1947 he refused to pay a prostitute because he was not happy with her services. The escort arrived at Frankie’s hotel room, but was unable to perform because she was too drunk, but still demanded $100 – a call-out fee perhaps?

Well, we’d certainly like to get our hands on these files. It may be old gossip, but it certainly hasn’t lost any of its juice!
