Internet vigilantes target violent porn fans

Fans of violent pornography will soon be named and shamed according to an internet vigilante group which runs the site extremeporn.org.uk. The net nannies are threatening to publish the identities of those who break the government's new extreme pornography legislation.

"We are enforcers of the law where the government dares not tread, we are the watchers of perverts everywhere, we are legion," a statement on the group's website claims. Moreover, it continues: "We are unofficial enforcers of part 5, section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008, which bans possession of extreme pornographic images."

The group was set up following the news that police will not actively pursue people who break the new laws. In an attempt to cut down on video nasties, it is now illegal in the UK to possess any pornographic material which features bestiality, necrophilia or life-threatening violence.
