He’s mine! Chilean miner met by lover as wife stays at home

It’s not only fame that Chilean miner Yonni Barrios will have to deal with on returning to the surface, but a marriage that’s well and truly on the rocks.

His wife, Marta Salina, 58, and lover Susana Valenzuela, 50, had both been holding a vigil for Barrios at Camp Hope, and reportedly almost came to blows in the mine’s dining area.

When 50-year-old Barrios emerged, he must have felt he was between a rock and a hard place, but in the end it was the mistress who greeted him, his wife choosing to stay away claiming she is over Barrios and that watching the rescue on TV, she did not feel ‘anything in particular’.

She did, however, have this parting shot for Barrios and any of the 33 men thinking to make a minor fortune from the accident: ‘This is historic but soon it will be over to the next thing. People move on – in a few years everyone will have forgotten about this. ‘They think they will all be millionaires overnight but it’s not like that. Only the skillful ones will make something from this.’

Wise words lady.
