Gong for a schlong

Whether you think it art or not, you can’t deny that graffiti is naughty. And one group of Russian graffiti artists demonstrated a perfect grasp of the naughtiness of the pursuit when they painted a huge penis on a vertical-lift bridge right opposite the headquarters of FSB Russian spy chiefs in St Petersburg.

Every time the bridge was lifted spies got a perfect view of the giant member rising to attention.

And now the controversial art collective, called Voina – ‘War’ in Russian - have been nominated for a prestigious award award by Russia's State Centre for Contemporary Art.

The pransksters have said that they will only accept the gong for the schlong if two of the group’s members - Oleg Vorotnikov and Leonid Nikolayev - are released from jail where they are serving public order offences.
