China opens eunuch museum

A museum for eunuchs is to open in Beijing in July. The Eunuch Culture Museum will open in time for the Olympics, and will chart the lives of these celebrated castrated males, showing the painful and humiliating ways this horrible act took place. (We hate to think…)

So for the less squeamish of you, this would make a perfect holiday day out, lapping up some of China’s ancient culture. For the curator of the museum, Pang Xianhui, it really is a must-see: “For the eunuchs, the castration room was even more important than the emperor’s bedroom.”

Doesn’t say much for the Emperor, now does it?
