Are cheating men slaves to testosterone?

They say Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, especially if that woman has been cheated on! However, what that certain lady might have assumed was the actions of yet another love-rat, may actually be science at play. What she and thousands of women could not have known is that men are more a victim of their own hormones than previously imagined.

Whilst new research about hormone levels in men doesn't vindicate their behaviour and need to stray away, it does explain why men feel compelled to cheat, the Huffington Post reports.

During their late twenties, men's levels of testosterone decline, leading to a lack of lust for life (rather than a lust for ladies), general depression and in later life, heart attacks and dementia (a great prospect!)

However, research outlined by Christopher Ryan and co-author Cacilda Jetha in their new book 'Sex at Dawn: The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality' shows that 'even a brief chat with an attractive woman raised men's testosterone levels by fourteen percent within minutes'. The new high experienced could be perceived as an overwhelming attraction in men to a new woman, which can lead to having an affair and ending a current relationship. Ladies, it seems you're as much to blame for men cheating as the men themselves!
